Forum Regionum is a 10 day residency for artists, architects, urban specialists, philosophers, cultural managers and activists from Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Russia, Belarus and Germany. The residency was arranged by Kultura Medialna and kitev with the support of the German Federal Foreign Office.
Conceived by the German organization kitev, the first Forum Regionum was held in 2016 and focused on the interaction with a residential building in an Oberhausen district. The underlying idea of the project is revitalization of abandoned buildings, influence on the environment of post-industrial cities through art, cultural and art practices.
In Dnipro the participants worked with the yet empty building of the future Center for Contemporary Culture. One of the goals is to make the new institution visible in the urban space. Residents researched local communities, interacted with them through pop up actions and interventions in the city environment, investigated the city’s history and then realized their projects. The outcomes of Forum Regionum were presented at the participants’ exhibition held on the premises of the future Center for Contemporary Culture.
