Kyiv Planetarium is one of the oldest and largest planetariums in Ukraine. It specializes in conducting educational programs in astronomy, geography and natural sciences. In 1988 Kyiv Planetarium begins to work in a new building on the street Krasnoarmeyskaya (now Bolshaya Vasilkovskaya street ), 57/3. The building itself is one of the best examples of the late Soviet Modernism.
The sign represents a symbiosis of several metaphors. On the one hand, it is the dome of the planetarium, from which a ray seems to burst in the direction of the sky, which reveals to us the knowledge of the universe. This is the human eye, which was formed from the sphere of the planet and the dome. This is the stars and graphics in the spirit of cosmic romanticism of the 60s, which at the same time looks modern in a complex corporate identity.
